Christine Haeun Lee wins AIMES Music Award

Congratulations to violinist Christine Haeun Lee on being awarded the 2021 AIMES Music Award. The award grant from the North Harbour Club is for $15,000 towards her music studies in Berlin and to facilitate other opportunities in her musical career. Awards were announced in mid-2022.

Christine (class of 2018) was actively involved in Westlake music before leaving at the end of Year 12 to undertake her Bachelor's Degree in Music at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Wisler in Berlin. In 2014, her first year at Westlake, she was a member of Westlake Symphony and Chamber Orchestra that made a European tour, playing concerts in Germany, Austria and Hungary.  

From her third year, in Year 11, she was Concertmaster and helped Westlake achieve consistent success at KBB Music Festivals, receiving gold awards and performance prizes The Covid-19 pandemic resulted in her taking a gap semester off, back in NZ, but she has returned to Berlin, studying under renowned Violinist Ning Feng. She will return to NZ in her university holidays to take part in the APO Fellowship programme.
