Tara Vaughan (Class of 2021)

Tara made her international debut in canoe racing in June this year as a member of the NZ K4 boat, alongside Olympic champion Dame Lisa Carrington. The World Cup took place in Račice in the Czech Republic. She has had a rapid rise after taking up the sport only 3 years ago, after many years involved in surf life-saving. Tara was involved in netball, orienteering and touch through her Westlake years.

She was a Tuakana (prefect/mentor) and gained Level 3 NCEA with Excellence. She is studying for a Bachelor of Sport and Recreation at AUT.
