1993 was the year that Westlake won the inaugural NZ Secondary Schools Fleet Sailing Championship, and Dame Catherine Tizard presented the Catherine Tizard Trophy for the sailing win. As well as this, she presented medals to senior Westlake award winners in different disciplines, at the Suffrage Centennial Awards Ceremony
