Tuesday, 29 November 2022
Congratulations to Alice Taylor (class of 2017) who was one of the contestants on MasterChef NZ. Alice had an amazing run and came 3rd in the competition, earning high praise for her skills and also a job offer from one of the judges, Michael Dearth of Baduzzi Restaurant in Auckland. Alice was the guest speaker at the Year 13 Leavers' Garden Party in November.

At Westlake, Alice was interested in Food Technology, coming 1st in Y13 Food Technology as well as  gaining Level 3 NCEA with Excellence. She headed to Otago University, initially studying a Law/Arts conjoint degree, before deciding to focus on her Arts Degree. This year she completed a Masters in Politics, specialising in Taiwanese Foreign Policy and Security Studies, handing in her dissertation just 2 days before she flew to Queenstown to audition for MasterChef.

Her passion for food led her to start a food Instagram @alicetayloreats,  and she started writing a food column for the Otago student magazine, The Critic.
